Josep Borrell.. Expo 2020 is an ideal opportunity to reaffirm the EU's commitment to international cooperation
The European Union promotes international cooperation and mutual understanding through its participation in Expo 2020 Dubai under the theme "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future".
In this context, Josep Borrell, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission, stressed that Expo 2020 Dubai is an ideal opportunity to reaffirm the European Union's commitment to international cooperation and multilateralism in response to global challenges and to build a common understanding on how to deal with these challenges.
"In times of tough challenges, our communities need to work together, not only to overcome them but also to become stronger together and better collaborate," Borrell added.
The European Union institutions are organizing more than 40 events and sessions reviewing European efforts in facing global challenges within the framework of the main themes of Expo 2020 Dubai: Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability.
In partnership with European Union member states, focusing on five main themes: sustainability, the European GreDen eal and climate change; food, agriculture and health; innovation and digitization; inclusivity and equality with a focus on empowering women; and trade and economic cooperation.
Expo 2020 Dubai will be an important opportunity to prepare for a more sustainable future by engaging with participants from all over the world in one of the largest global events to be held since the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic.
The activities of the European Union are also evident in its cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, as the host country of Expo 2020 Dubai, where Borrell added: “The European Union is committed to supporting the internal transformation and economic diversification efforts of the United Arab Emirates within the framework of our bilateral cooperation. I look forward to Discussing these important issues in detail with our Emirati partners during my visit to the UAE this week.”
The Honorary Day of the European Union on October 23 will be an occasion to celebrate the participation of the European Union in Expo 2020 Dubai along with the Member States through cultural activities with young artists and cultural workers from Europe and the rest of the world in order to promote diversity and dialogue between cultures.
